Alexander’s
Café in Frenchtown, St. Thomas will be celebrating the artwork
from five career professionals in our community on Friday August
9, from 5pm until 7pm. Everyone is invited to attend the complimentary
champagne and appetizer reception and register for the prize drawing.
Participating artists are Brooks Reid Brown of Caribbean Travel
Agency; Ensor Colon, Network Engineer with Cingular Wireless; John
Foster of John Foster Real Estate; Pam Murnan of the Law Offices
of Robert J. Murnan; and Brian Murphy, Chef with the St. Thomas
Yacht Club.
These
artists spend most of their time as career professionals yet share
a passion for expressing themselves creatively through their art.
Their artistic training varies from self-taught skills to art school
graduates. These artists have been quietly displaying their work
yet are continuing to be ‘discovered.’ Often co-workers
and others around them are unaware they are artists. Discovering
these after-hours artists seems to elicit a sense of surprise, fun,
and intrigue. Knowing that their professional careers can pull at
their creative time, each of the artists deeply appreciates the
time they spend creatively. Staying true to their artistic expression
can sometimes be a challenge because of the demands of their careers.
Often the voice of an influential person or group that encouraged
their artistic expression keeps them on their creative path. May
this show serve to remind, encourage and stir the creative spirit
that may be within our own selves.
Art
collectors will enjoy meeting the artists and finding out more about
their artistic careers. “Discovering the Artist” may
inspire you to acquire emerging artist work or to be inspired to
discover the artist within yourself. “Discovering the Artist”
exhibit will hang through September 9. Selected works are available
for sale opening night and for the duration of the show.
Alexander’s
