COME MEET THE ARTIST
Native St. Thomas artist David Hill returns home for his solo exhibit
David Hill: “A Study in Energy and Light” at Alexander’s
Café in Frenchtown, St. Thomas on Friday, January 10 from
5pm until 7pm. Everyone is invited to attend the complimentary champagne
and appetizer reception and register for a gift from David. For
more information, contact Show Coordinator Claire at (340)643.6363.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ART CAREER
The young David Hill displays sophisticated work that belies his
26 years. Yet upon closer study, David has obviously been a diligent
and passionate art student. A graduate of VI Montessori School with
continued completed studies at All Saints and Antilles, David showed
an early interest in art and enrolled in the School of Visual Arts
and Careers (SVAC.) This non-profit after school program for promising
artists helped David realize his potential and interest in art early
in his life. Upon graduation, David’s continued passion for
art study took him to places such as Hawaii, Italy, Florida and
most recently Boston.
SOLO EXHIBIT
Returning home for his solo exhibit, David will introduce his current
artistic focus, Energy and Light. He explores energy and how it
relates to warm colors, most specifically yellow. David explains,
“the idea is to capture energy from potential to kinetic
through the use of color.” The light he portrays in his
work is a very important part of his desire to capture energy. Playing
with ideas of light on water, space, and in particular back lighting.
David expresses that he, “Applies the energy of light
into an exercise of working from truth of inspired imagination.”
“The shows images are wonderfully varied in content and
medium, yet are all strong pieces reflecting David’s exploration
of his ideas within each medium itself.” Claire
Come meet the artist Friday night, January 10, 2003.
All works are available for purchase. The exhibit will hang through
February 13. For more information call Claire at (340).643.6363
